About

It is the mission of The Connection Homeless Shelter Inc. to provide shelter, awaken hope, and honor dignity for the men, women and children who seek support or assistance while experiencing homelessness in our community.

our mission

who we are

The hands and feet of Lincoln County. 💕

The Connection provides shelter to over 350 men, women and children each year. Lengths of stay for our residents vary from one or two nights to the max allotted period of twenty-four months. While staying at The Connection residents are provided not only a safe place to live but an opportunity for three-meals a day, bathroom facilities, hygiene products, clothing, and a variety of other items to meet their basic needs and help begin the process of moving them out of survival mode.

The shelter consists of eighteen beds and seven private rooms in our men’s dormitory, three beds and four private rooms in our women’s dormitory, five apartments for families with minor children and one private ADA standard room.

Understanding that in order to truly help those experiencing homelessness it’s imperative that we first provide them shelter, The Connection strives to operate in alignment with Housing First principles.

We encourage long stays as one of the driving factors in regaining and maintaining stability is the creation of a strong foundation of supports. To begin this process all residents, participate in our case management program where they are encouraged to map out their own path to stability and permanent housing through action planning and goal setting. It is the relationships, both professional and personal, developed during case management that help our residents to overcome the barriers that have led them to homelessness.
