stories of hope
Because of the faithfulness of the North Platte area, stories like these are possible.
Reaching my Goals
I came here on January 16th because I was without a home. Through being here I encountered lots of help with programs that made it possible for me to maintain my own residence, get a job and transportation to that job was provided by the shelter. While here I also received help with my medication costs at one point. I was able to set five goals and reached all of them.
This place became my home for over three months and due to the encouragement, I was able to succeed and be independent. – Sarah
I was given hope
I was a homeless Vietnam Veteran wandering around sad, confused, and at my wits end. I ended up in North Platte where I met people at The Connection. The people here welcomed me in with no question. I got help with food, clothes, and an apartment. Thank you to The Connection – Gregory
Back on my feet
I first became homeless on June 29. When I came to The Connection, I was a total mess. I had just gotten out of jail and was in active addiction. I didn’t have a job and was on probation. The shelter staff helped me get back on my feet by helping me with benefits and employment applications. They even helped me get a place to live. I moved into my apartment the following March, without the support of the staff here I wouldn’t have gotten a job and a place to live.
I appreciate the staff very much for helping me become independent and become the person I am today. – Cristi
